Atheist Quotes

Here are some Atheist quotes that I found at Adrian Hayter's Blog. Extremely insightful and it speaks to the many things that atheists see wrong with religion and how atheists think.

‘An Atheist believes that a hospital should be built instead of a church. An Atheist believes that a deed must be done instead of a prayer said. An Atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death. He wants disease conquered, poverty vanquished, war eliminated. He wants man to understand and love man.’

‘I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.’ - Steven Roberts

‘And if there were a God, I think it very unlikely that He would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence.’ - Bertrand Russell

‘Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned.’

‘We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes.’ - Gene Roddenberry

‘Without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.’ - Steven Weinberg

‘Two hands working can do more than a thousand clasped in prayer.’

‘Men rarely (if ever) manage to dream up a God superior to themselves. Most Gods have the manners and morals of a spoiled child.’ - Robert A. Heinlein

‘I have examined all the known superstitions of the world, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology.’ - Thomas Jefferson

‘Which is it, is man one of God’s blunders or is God one of man’s?’ - Friedrich Nietzsche

‘Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.’

‘Religion does three things quite effectively: Divides people, Controls people, Deludes people.’ - Carlespie Mary Alice McKinney

‘Be thankful that you have a life, and forsake your vain and presumptuous desire for a second one.’ - Richard Dawkins

‘The Government of the United States is in no sense founded on the Christian religion.’ - John Adams, 2nd President of the United States

‘You do not need the bible to justify love, but no better tool has been invented to justify hate.’ - Richard A. Weatherwax

‘They felt that science would be corrosive to religious belief and they were worried about it. Damn it, I think they were right. It is corrosive to religious belief and it’s a good thing.’ - Steven Weinberg

‘Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?’ - Epicurus

‘It is not as in the Bible, that God created man in his own image. But, on the contrary, man created God in his own image.’ - Ludwig Feuerbach

Life Is a Game (Part 2)

What about those I have left behind. I have bent their arms behind their backs and left them to tie their shoes. To dig themselves from the graves I put them in. It must be my responsibility to not consume, but to grow and nurture the human beings I come into contact with. Is that not what society would tell me? Or am I to become rich and powerful in any way necessary? I am on my way, believe me.

I have acquired a gift for gab. So very important in this world. I can talk, conversate, persuade, manipulate. It is something to be both proud of, and ashamed. Much of what I say is far less than genuine. This I fear will be my downfall in the end. Because as I refine and further develop these skills to use in the boardroom and work lunches and back-room deals, my words will sting and hurt those I practice them on, until I am able to sharpen my tongue to the point where my subjects will not feel the pain of lies and deceit.

That is where I want to be! As bad as it may sound, I want to be able to lie and not get caught. To have the words flow from my lips like sweet nectar, so easily and smoothly that no one thinks to question or second guess them. Is that not something we all would appreciate?

As those who know me know too well, I speak in circles as much as possible. In this way I give nothing but gain everything. By controlling the flow of information I have gained not only the upper hand, but the ability and the strength to twist their hands behind their backs, and bury them when necessary. Then I will have moved on to bigger "more important" issues. Leaving those once close to me with their hands tied behind their back and unable to dig themselves out, or tie their shoes.

Life Is a Game

Life is a game and I seem to be losing.

I thought that I had it all figured out. Cut this corner here. Make a back-room deal there. Screw that person over there! Didn't need them any way! They hurt the bottom line, and the bottom line was for me to get ahead. Doesn't matter if it's getting ahead in the classroom, in a relationship, on the court, financially, etc. Doesn't matter. As long as you are in the lead, crossing the finish line first and in control of the situation.

Coming in second isn't bad either.... especially when it sets you up for many victories later. Learning from the best should be the only reason to come in last place. But, of course, one can only be a student for so long. And one will gladly step on the head of one's master to become a master himself.

But...
